About the role

Job Overview

We are seeking a motivated and reliable Chef to oversee and deliver our bistro menu service. The successful candidate will work under the direction of the Sous Chef (who reports to the Head Chef) and will be responsible for running the bistro menu independently, primarily serving golfers and bar guests.

This role requires strong organisational skills, the ability to work alone confidently, and a commitment to maintaining high food safety and presentation standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and cook food in line with the bistro menu specification

  • Independently run and manage the bistro menu during service

  • Ensure all food is prepared and presented to a consistent, high standard

  • Accurately label and store all food items in compliance with food safety regulations

  • Maintain full compliance with HACCP, allergen, and hygiene standards

  • Monitor stock levels and report shortages to the Sous Chef

  • Assist with prep and service for functions and events where required

  • Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen at all times

  • Follow direction from the Sous Chef and support wider kitchen operations

Requirements

  • Previous experience in a chef or line cook role

  • Ability to work independently and manage service alone

  • Strong understanding of food safety, allergen control, and labelling requirements

  • Good time management and organisational skills

  • Ability to remain calm and efficient during busy service periods

  • Flexible availability, including weekends and busy golf/event days

Personal Qualities

  • Self-motivated and dependable

  • High attention to detail

  • Strong work ethic

  • Team player with good communication skills

  • Takes pride in producing quality food

Although the contracted salary is £21,000 per year based on a 30-hour working week, the role will typically operate closer to a 40-hour working week during busier periods.

Any hours worked above the 30 contracted hours will be paid as overtime, in line with the agreed overtime rate. This means that in peak months, earnings will reflect the additional hours worked.

During quieter periods, particularly in the off-season, working hours will return to the 30-hour contractual agreement, with salary remaining at the agreed base of £21,000 per annum.

This structure provides stability through a guaranteed 30-hour contract, while offering the opportunity to increase earnings during busier months.
