The Role
We’re looking for a reliable, motivated, and hands-on Maintenance Assistant to support our Maintenance Manager in keeping the site safe, well-presented, and fully operational each day.
This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys working outdoors, being part of a supportive team, and taking pride in maintaining high standards across buildings, equipment, and outdoor areas.
You’ll play a key role in preventative maintenance, repairs, and ensuring the smooth day-to-day operation of the site.
Key Responsibilities
Teamwork & Operations
Assist with planned and preventative maintenance programmes in line with manufacturer guidelines
Support the maintenance, operation, and servicing of all buildings and equipment
Assist in diagnosing and repairing faults and breakdowns, responding promptly to minimise downtime
Work flexibly to meet operational priorities and agreed timescales
Support site and group-wide maintenance requirements
Assist with stock control of maintenance consumables
Liaise effectively with managers, team members, suppliers, and contractors
Support monitoring of contractors and suppliers to ensure quality, compliance, and value for money
Maintain a clean, safe, and organised workshop and working environment
Assist with indoor and outdoor maintenance and presentation, including decoration
Use chemicals safely in line with COSHH regulations and PPE requirements
Carry out any additional duties as requested by management
Health, Safety & Compliance
Follow all BGL policies, health & safety procedures, and complete required training
Report maintenance or safety concerns promptly
Complete checklists and service records accurately and on time
Maintain documentation in line with company and audit standards
Working Conditions
This is a physically active, outdoor role
Regularly working outside in all weather conditions
Standing, walking, and manual tasks required
Skills & Attributes
Skills
Good verbal communication and listening skills
Basic understanding of health & safety principles (training provided)
Competent using a range of maintenance tools (e.g. drills, saws, grinders, hand tools)
Attributes
Organised, enthusiastic, and detail-focused
A strong team player with a positive, can-do attitude
Physically fit and comfortable with outdoor manual work
Qualifications
- Enhanced DBS check required (provided as part of the process)
