Job Purpose

To develop as a PGA Professional while supporting the day-to-day golf operations of the club. The role combines coaching, customer service, retail, and practical experience aligned with the PGA of GB&I Training Programme.

Key Responsibilities

Coaching & Player Development

  • Assist with individual and group coaching sessions under supervision

  • Support junior, beginner, and academy programmes

  • Promote coaching services and help grow participation

  • Maintain safe and professional practice environments

Golf Operations

  • Assist with daily running of the pro shop and golf operations

  • Manage tee sheets, bookings, and customer enquiries

  • Support competitions, opens, and club events

Retail & Customer Service

  • Deliver excellent customer service to members and visitors

  • Assist with retail sales, merchandising, stock control, and POS systems

  • Promote custom fitting, lessons, and club services

  • Handle all payment transactions accurately

PGA Training & Personal Development

  • Actively participate in the PGA of GB&I Training Programme

  • Complete required coursework, assignments, and assessments

  • Demonstrate continuous improvement in playing, coaching, and business skills

  • Represent the club and PGA professionally at all times

General Duties

  • Maintain a clean, organised pro shop and practice areas

  • Assist with club promotions, open days, and social media where required

  • Carry out any other reasonable duties as requested by management

Person Specification

Essential

  • Registered (or eligible to register) with the PGA of Great Britain & Ireland

  • Passion for golf and developing as a golf professional

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills

  • Friendly, professional, and customer-focused attitude

  • Willingness to work weekends, evenings, and holidays

  • Good standard of playing ability

Desirable

  • Previous experience in a golf club or retail environment

  • Coaching or assistant coaching experience

  • Knowledge of WHS and golf administration systems

  • Basic IT and POS system experience
